the first thing to notice when listening to the soundtrack to assassin’s creed: brotherhood is the use of some wistful piano and strings. this is because ezio’s son, jack, is born to his daughter sofia in the game. and this is also the reason why the soundtrack is so tranquil. we are already at the point in ezio’s life where he has accepted the fact that he is leaving the assassin’s life behind and he is now simply a father. there are no more chases, no more fights, no more assassinations. there are only love and family.
there are seven tracks on this soundtrack, and it’s most definitely a’musical journey’. it takes you from one place to another, and the brass instruments and the strings take the lead in each one. one such place is during the opening cut-scene of the game where you see the altair character fighting off cesare borgia’s soldiers in the street of florence. it also takes you to the prison where ezio’s father is held, and it brings you to the final battle. it’s the most interesting sequence of the game and it’s the best-sounding sequence of the game. the music doesn’t sound like assassin’s creed, it doesn’t sound like action-packed combat, it sounds like a musical journey.
